Pilotwings - FAH - Super Nintendo
Take to the skies in Pilotwings, one of Nintendo’s distinctive early titles for the Super Nintendo. Developed by Nintendo EAD, the game arrived in Europe during the early 1990s and made striking use of the system’s Mode 7 technology to create an impressive sense of altitude, speed and three-dimensional movement.
Players take part in a series of flight lessons while working towards different pilot licences. Fly a light aircraft, use the Rocketbelt, perform skydiving jumps and control a hang glider. Each discipline requires precision, careful timing and accurate landings. Bonus challenges and demanding helicopter missions add further variety.
Pilotwings offered something very different from traditional action and platform games and went on to establish a recognizable Nintendo series, later followed by Pilotwings 64 and Pilotwings Resort.
