This new interpretation of the Mega Man universe follows Lan Hikari and his digital NetNavi, MegaMan.EXE. Gameplay combines RPG elements with tactical real-time battles and Battle Chips. During combat, MegaMan.EXE moves across a grid while enemies attack from the opposite side of the battlefield. Battle Chips provide different weapons, attacks and supporting abilities. Carefully building your chip selection allows you to develop different strategies and create powerful combinations.

Outside combat, Lan talks to characters, investigates locations and sends MegaMan.EXE into electronic devices and computer networks. These digital areas contain viruses, puzzles, hidden items and new Battle Chips to discover.
