Join the famous sailor in Popeye for the Nintendo NES, based on Nintendo’s original arcade game. As Popeye, your goal is to collect the items dropped by Olive Oyl while Bluto constantly chases you and tries to stand in your way.
Move through different stages filled with platforms, ladders and dangerous obstacles and collect all the required items to progress. Popeye normally cannot fight Bluto directly, but grabbing a can of spinach temporarily gives him enough strength to deliver a powerful punch to his oversized rival. Other hazards also keep timing and careful movement important throughout each stage.
Popeye belongs to Nintendo’s early range of arcade games and brings the familiar cartoon characters together in a straightforward but challenging score-focused experience. Its recognizable gameplay and place in Nintendo’s early history make it an interesting title for NES collectors. This is the HOL edition featuring the distinctive Hangtab packaging, characteristic of early European NES releases.
